Yesterday I came across an incident I hope I never see again. 3 supposed adults, I use the term loosely, drunk in charge of a baby. 1 the male was busy downing a bottle of cheap booze while the others shared a mobile phone to ask about their other child ..who seemed to occupy all their attention..when they werent downing the alcohol.I dread to think of that child's life.I have come home what we call 1/2 cut, but Alasdair and Louis, were in the safe hands of their Italian Grandmother. Mio Mama incidently tore a strip off me, for being tipsy once in over 6 weeks I might add. From the behaviour of this dispicable trio, and the frequent references to booze, I can only surmise that this is a daily occurance.Recently in Edinburgh a 3 yrold boy Michael McGarrity, was left for 6 weeks when his junkie mother died. 6 weeks!? And nobody missed him!? I can only hope the little mite that I met, will be removed from these cretins, before he too ends up starving beside a drink sodden decomposing corpse.
Some people just aren't fit to be parents! Trouble is, I don't know what the solution is to solve the problem! It extends to the excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs and selfish behaviour. It takes incredibly selfless behaviour to be a parent, and unfortunately, it seems that these days people tend to get far too carried away in their own life to consider the welfare of a child. If you want to be selfish, or lead your own life, then don't have children! But then it seems that not everyone is born with common sense either! What to do? :S
Doc if I see these eejits again, I will call social services and let them deal with them, or better still the police, what amazed me was the lack of concern from the station staff, who turned a very blind eye...
Damn it! You need a licence to: get a dog, drive a car, hunt, fish, by a house, marry the one you love, and so on,; but any "person" can make and/or bair a child! It's so damn wrong!!!!
Absolutely. I was that angry pal, its even more unbelievable, as the consumption of alcohol is banned on trains and stations. I am so tired of hearing about and coming across neglected children, Scotland is full of them. 11% of children who runaway from home, in Scotland, are NOT reported missing, by their parents. If Alasdair or Louis didn't come home, we'd be out searching for them immediately.
The frustrating thing is, it is never that simple to get police or social services involved! My cousin was mistreated by my uncle and his bike of a girlfriend for 8 years. As a family, there was little we could do, cos they kept most of it hidden from us! Little did we know that social services had reports from neighbours and the school etc for years! And we only knew so much when the parent's decided they had screwed enough benefits out of him and he wasn't worth keeping any more, and left him at social services with his bag packed. No one in the family knew. So now, after much battling, he lives happily with my parents in London, and he's never been doing better in his life. Social services now don't bother with him, which is sad, cos although he's not being mistreated anymore, I'm sure thousands of kids in the same situation might be! They tried to convince us that they were going to remove him from his parent's custody anyway... but that's just bollocks! They did nothing in the 5 years they knew about the situation! Social services are a complete wastew of time! They all think they know best, but know fuck all! They couldn't rescue a piece of toast fvrom burning, let alone anything else! And even if police were to intgervine, it all falls at social services door anyway! And this is what we have to look after unfortunate kids? People should be sterilised if they are incapable of looking after kids properly!
Doc your right I know from past experience that many abusive parents live double lives.Hmm sadly I'm not surprised by how they have treated your cousin. I feel so helpless knowing this child is being neglected and there's feck all I can do to improve the situation. We did however take in this young deaf boy Connor, who was homeless, you would not believe how badly he has been treated, the streets are a death trap for someone like him.
one should be very careful about judging who is, and is not, fit to have a child. I agree that some people just shouldn’t be allowed to have children! However, considering a child to be neglected and in an abusive home off the back of one experience is being a little quick to judge me thinks. After all goblin, you yourself apparently smashed up your flat in a rage one night, as per a previous post on these very boards, and regardless of whether or not your child was present, this would point to you being a very violent individual, what if someone had decided to report you to social services and the police because of that one incident, would you deem that to be fair? I don’t think so. As for social services, I do agree that they often handle situations wrongly where abused children are concerned, but the harsh reality is that social services are grossly under staffed and over worked, especially the child protection department, because a lot of people just don’t want to work in child protection, and if they do, the situation with neglected children often causes social workers to go off sick with stress. And if social services go into a home where a child appears to be happy and healthy and the parents say all is well, what can they realistically be expected to do? You can’t take away a child from parents purely because someone else thinks those parents aren’t fit, there has to be concrete evidence, and sadly, without that evidence, the hands of social services are tied.
Ah! good Point SugarBaby.
The dangerous ones are the parents that know how to play the kids to use socoial services to get all the benefits and help they want, without having their meal ticket child taken away!

Doc I agree but I cannot believe that 11% of children are not missed by their family, what do these cretins imagine is going to happen to their child. And just in case that sick bitch SB, accused us of using Connor for financial gain, we are in no need of benefits,As I came from a well off family and money is definately not a problem. As you seem to spend all day on here, I can only presume you don't work and prefer to sponge off the state..
no goblin I have a husband who earns enough to support us all financially so I don't need to work I can bring up my child, at least I don't log in from my place of work ey
goblin, that was just ridiculous and totally uncalled for, I think everone on this site is pretty convinced who is more bitchy between the two of you .. all raging rampages aside, why someone who smashes up his apartment sees himself as fit to having children and even criticizing others for the way they handle their kids is honestly beyond me, but this is even worse.
and here we have another perfect example of a decent topic gone petty, if you 2 can't just get over your personal little issues with each other, then I think you should stop posting to the others topics, now there's logic for ya, it took a lot of consideration to come up with that one! everyone can say why they think they'd do a better job as a parent, how they would or wouldn't do things. fact of the matter anyone with a functioning reproductive system can have kids. if a child is beeing that badley treated then eventually someone will work it out, and if they don't then what can you or I do about it unless we report it to the apropriate services. yeah it's not fair to see kids with horrible drunken parents. but it's not fair that millions of kids die every day not because their parents neglect them, but because the country doesn't have enough of an econamy to support them, to feed or educate them or to provide contraseptives to the parents. guess the advantage to kids such as the ones goblin speaks of, is that they are born into a perfectly normal self sufficent society where once they are grown up, they can make their own discisions, and make a life for themselves if they so chose. these kids will come into contact with good people through out their lives, who will be a posative influence on them, and will show them that there is good in the world. lets just hope that they are influenced by that rather than the less than desirable behavour of their parents.
Wow, beautifully said puggle *smiles*. That pretty much sums it up.
Again, I'd say a superiority complex is very evident on here.....
No one, and I mean no one, should be fit to judge who should, have, not, or have children.
Yes, the abuse is unfortunate, but, goblin, I'd be careful, persons in glass houses should not throw stones.
Not trying to be judgemental, but it would seem that I need to state the obvious.
The real issue here is that the social services can't deal with the amount of calls they get. If a person who works for the department has the choice of removing a 1 year old and a 3 year old or older it's sad, but they'll always remove the younger...it's just not right that we can't afford to give all the children in our countries a good upbringing, this is the issue, not that people don't report them to social services, but that social services can't deal with the calls they get!
Social services is falling apart here too the only thing i can think of is to take in a bunch of kids being hurt and abused That in fact is one of my goals to adopt a bunch of kids.
